An Ancient Art soap company in Strawn, Texas

A Wonderful Discovery on I-20 Between Dallas and Abilene

A few years ago on a business trip from Abilene to my home near Dallas, I saw a billboard that caught my attention.  It advertised a soap company, An Ancient Art, in the little town of Strawn, Texas, that I thought I should take some time to investigate.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the boutique soap and cosmetics company was just off the highway in the downtown area of Strawn, and that they appear to have quite a good business from travelers coming through on I-20.

About An Ancient Art

The founder and owner, Shanah Coe, started the business in the spring of 2000.  In talking with her, it was easy to see how passionate she is about customer service and taking time to answer any questions a passerby, like me, might have.

Aside from the delicious fragrance of freshly made soap is the sheer beauty of these natural products.  Made from some Texas native plants like sage, Indian paintbrush, and so many other wildflowers and herbs, visitors get a true sense of Texas just browsing around.

Most times, when I pass through there with my wife on our way to visit relatives in west Texas, we do not take the time to stop.  So, I have made use a couple of times of the mail order business that thrives under Shanah's direction.

One more thing: in case you are wondering, they have some great "manly-man" fragrances as well.  My favorite is a leather fragrance, though I was also partial to the chocolate soap, and I always love the Texas sage.
