An insight into the life of the talented performer Kate Petersen.
How did you get into performing and what age were you?
Ever since I was little I’ve loved performing. I used to sing and dance and do gymnastics for my family all the time. I started performing in the circus when I was 12.
What was the entertainment scene like in Australia?
Australia has very little shows and opportunities for performers in the entertainment industry so I had to work extra hard to get the jobs and contracts that I did. I’ve recently come over to Hollywood to look for more opportunities because they have a lot more to offer.
What type of training have you done?
I have trained in gymnastics, circus, ice-skating, fire twirling, acting, stunts, springboard diving, horse riding, dancing and sports acrobatics.
Who were some of your inspirations growing up?
My main inspiration is my best friend Michelle who has done some of the biggest circus shows in the world and she started doing gymnastics with me at a young age. My mum is also a big inspiration because she’s so strong and she supports me through all of my career choices.
What brought you to the US?
I came to the US for a few months to network and train as much as possible. I have already been offered a few jobs already and there is a lot more opportunities here for performing.
What would be your ultimate gig?
Disney on Ice or Universal Studios Water world Show. Both of these shows are amazing and I would love to eventually be part of either production.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
My biggest highlight would be working at Sea World doing the Pirates Unleashed stunt and acrobatic show. It was an amazing show to be a part of and I got some amazing experience.
What would be your advice to aspiring performers?
No matter how hard things get, always keep on fighting. Any dream is achievable if you are willing to put in the hard work towards it. Don’t ever give up!
