If you are a foodie, you might also be interested in wine. Jay Raffaldini, owner of the Raffaldini Vineyards in the Yadkin Valley, is offering you the opportunity to come with him on a tour of his winery. He will discuss with you how they handcraft their award-winning wines, and he will take you step by step through the wine-making process.
The Raffaldini family dates back to 1348 in Mantua, Italy. For more than 600 years, the family has lived on the farm there. They decided to share their wine experience with the New World. After a lot of searching, Raffaldini Vineyards moved to the Swan Creek area of the Yadkin Valley. As their website says, "From this vineyard, we handcraft our Italian wines; wines that express not only their “sense of place”, but also utilize winemaking skills that have been refined throughout the ages" (raffaldinivineyards.com).
"The moment you step out of your vehicle at Raffaldini Vineyards, the place takes hold of you. The setting is like none other in the Yadkin Valley. Located high on a hillside overlookign the Blue Ridge Mountains, it offers spectacular views in several directions. There is simply no better place that I know of in the area to take in the surroundings, while enjoying the fine wines of Raffaldini Vineyards," says John Willingham, the president of Indera Mills of Yadkinville.
Raffaldini Vineyards will be hosting two tours, one at 1:00 pm and one at 3:00 pm. For $15, you will get a tour and a glass of wine of your choice. Call (336) 835--9463 or e-mail eventplanning@raffaldini.com to make your reservation. The Raffaldini Vineyards are located at 450 Groce Road in Ronda, North Carolina.
