Old Mission Peninsula is a beautiful and accessible place for Cincinnati-area residents to vacation, but it can be a tad expensive. Most lodging and dining options on the peninsula—and certainly those with an exclusive view of Grand Traverse Bay—are out of many families’ price ranges.
But there are exceptions to this rule, and Sunset Sands, with a private beach facing West Grand Traverse Bay, is a notable one.
This roomy (1400-sq. ft.) cottage with 2 Bedrooms and a spacious loft, sleeps 8 people without consigning anyone to floor space or folding bed. It is just 20 min. from Traverse City, and presents an array of gorgeous water views in endless shades of blue, as well as a panorama of exquisite sunsets provided by its western exposure. A screened-in porch, a large deck, a fireplace, kitchen, 1½ baths, and wireless internet make this vacation home a paradise on the peninsula.
Sunset Sands’s location is idyllic as well. Nearly on the northernmost end of the peninsula, it is a short drive from Lighthouse Point, Haserot Beach, Old Mission General Store, and more.
