After the death of Amy Winehouse in July, many thought the singer died of a drug overdose, or from some adverse reaction involving drugs. The toxicology report may suggest otherwise.
That report is back, and the Winehouse family was informed Amy had no illegal substances in her system when she died according to Mail Online 8-23-2011.
However, alcohol was found in her system but does not explain her death to this point. It can't be ruled out either.
This tox report appears to blow Tony Azzopardi's claims of helping Amy score crack cocaine, and heroin hours prior to her death on July 23rd. The London "fixer" claims to have set the deal up to buy the drugs. Azzopardi was introduced to Amy by her ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil.
One thing is for sure, it sounds like Winehouse was doing her best to kick her drug addiction as the tox report shows with the exception of the alcohol found. She may have been still struggling with that drug, but managed to shed the other ones.
There is an Inquest scheduled for October 2011 regarding Amy's death, so more is forthcoming regarding the cause.
R.I.P. Amy. If nothing else, you were trying to beat the beast, and that's what counts.
Peace...
