"Amy Winehouse: One Shining Night"
Smithsonian Channel

UPDATE: This contest is now closed. Thank you to all who entered.

Described as one of the “Greatest Women In Music” by VH1 and “the pre-eminent vocal talent of her generation” by the BBC, Amy Winehouse was truly an amazing singer and songwriter. In her short 27 years, she won six Grammys, five BRIT awards, an MTV Europe Music award, held two Guinness Book records (“Most Grammy Awards won by a British Female Act” and “Most Simultaneous Hits on UK Singles Chart by a Solo Female”), and received many other awards and recognitions. Winehouse was also a talented, emotional live performer, and described as a “soulful powerhouse” on stage.

Back to Black, released in October 2006, was the album that propelled Amy to superstardom. Over 20 million copies have been sold in the United States, and millions more across the world. Shortly after the album’s release, Amy traveled to a small fishing village in the southwest corner of Ireland for the Other Voices music festival. There she performed "Rehab," "You Know I'm No Good," and other songs for less than 70 people in a tiny, 200-year old church. On March 14th at 10 p.m. ET/PT, the Smithsonian Channel will present that special evening as a documentary titled “Amy Winehouse: One Shining Night.” The documentary also includes a candid interview with the crooner in which she shares the story of her music and her musical influences.“Amy Winehouse: One Shining Night” is one of three music documentaries the Smithsonian Channel is airing this month. “Rocking the Opera House: Dr. John” aired March 7th, and “Blondie’s New York” will air March 21st.

To celebrate the premiere of “Amy Winehouse: One Shining Night,” we are giving away five copies of “I Told You I Was Trouble: Amy Winehouse Live in London” on DVD! It is a 60 minute concert of Amy performing live from London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire, and includes great bonus material: a 50 minute film chronicling her career, an interview with her father, footage from early performances, and more.
