Amy Poehler, along with co-host Tina Fey impressed -- and amused -- a lot of folks at the Golden Globe Awards recently, and now's the time to take advantage of that. On Wednesday, it was announced that the "Parks and Recreation" star is set to star in a Super Bowl ad for electronics retailer Best Buy.
Scott Durchslag, Best Buy's head of marketing said:
Amy Poehler's Golden Globe performance left us all wanting to see more of her. We are thrilled to feature her in our commercial this year and bring the public another dose of her unparalleled humor. We know people have high expectations for these ads, and Amy delivers a whole new dimension of entertainment.
Poehler's Super Bowl ad will air during the first quarter of Super Bowl XLVII on Feb. 3. That game, also dubbed the "Harbowl," pits the San Francisco 49ers against the Baltimore Ravens, in front of somewhere around 100 million viewers.
That will be about five times as many people who watched her co-host the Golden Globe Awards, and around 25 times the audience for the typical episode of her NBC sitcom "Parks and Recreation."
Poehler was a cast member of "Saturday Night Live" from 2001 to 2009. In 2004, she had a minor role in the film "Mean Girls" alongside Golden Globe Awards co-host Tina Fey, with whom she worked again in "Baby Mama" in 2008.
Poehler has been nominated twice for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance on SNL, and three times for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance in "Parks and Recreation." For the latter series, she has also received two Golden Globe and one Screen Actors Guild award nominations.
Best Buy is running its third straight Super Bowl ad. The game will air Feb. 3 on CBS.
