After weeks of speculation and more than a few words spent trying to determine who would and wouldn't be joining the cast for SNL's 36th season, it appears that it's all been finalized: three new comic actors and one actress will be joining the cast this season, and Lorne Michaels has announced the host and musical act for the Sept. 25th season premiere.  Curious?  Read on for the details, my gentle Examiner readers...

We've done a lot of chattering about who'd be joining Saturday Night Live this season, what with Will Forte on his way out the door (and Jenny Slate apparently not too far behind him), but now it's been made official: Jay Pharoah, Taran Killam, Vanessa Bayer, and Paul Brittain will be part of the show's 36th season lineup.  That's it, no more talking about it, we can all sleep again.  Aren't you relieved?  You can read about Taran Killam here, Jay Pharoah here, and stay tuned for information on the other new cast members shortly.

More excitingly, NBC has announced who's going to be hosting the upcoming 36th season premiere: Parks and Rec star Amy Poehler (who served a few years in the SNL army herself) will be running the show when it returns on September 25th, backed up by Katy Perry and her enormous breasts (all of whom we've written about before here at Comedy Examiner HQ) as the musical act.  Both Poehler and Perry have been in the news a lot lately: Poehler just had another child, and Perry just graced the cover of Rolling Stone with a photo that can only be described as "hotter than the surface of the sun".

Stay tuned for more funny news, reviews, interviews, commentaries, and more from Comedy Examiner HQ in the near future.  We've got all manner of nonsense to keep you entertained during the week, so be sure to hit the "Subscribe" button up top on your way out to get all future Comedy Examiner articles sent directly to your inbox.  Before you go, though, let's take a look at the musical stylings of the musical guest for SNL's 36th season, Katy Perry:
