Amy Duggar, the fun-loving cousin from TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting,” spoke to Examiner.com on Oct. 29 for an exclusive interview. During our enlightening phone conversation, she answered ten burning questions and updated fans on what’s new and exciting in her life. Amy, who turned 27 recently, is simply refreshing and more enthusiastic than ever about her future. Although she appeared very little on the past season of “19 Kids and Counting,” which concluded on Oct. 22, America's favorite cousin hinted that big things are on the horizon. She couldn’t reveal much more right now, but promised an update as soon as she gets the green light.
The effervescent cousin of the super-sized Duggar family lives in Fayetteville, Ark. She works as a nanny for several local families and volunteers at her church. Her lifelong dream is to become a singer and she’s recently made several trips to Nashville. Amy is a fun-loving person who is talented, ambitious and spiritual. Her star is just starting to shine, so fans can expect to hear a lot more about her in the near future.
In the meantime, Amy is loving life and living it to its fullest. She’s very close to her Duggar cousins, her parents, and her grandmother. She’s a bit less rigid about rules than the Duggars, but her heart is always in the right place. On Monday, she took time out of her busy schedule to answer ten burning questions.
1. "Are you seeing anyone special?”
Amy dated Reed Taylor for a while and fell hard for the construction worker from Ok. However, their relationship didn’t pan out. Amy said that she was distraught by the breakup at first, but came to the realization that they weren’t meant to be together. She has since moved on with her life and is looking forward to new beginnings, challenges and people. She even joked lightheartedly, “If he called today, I’d say, 'Reed who'?”
2. “What do you think about Jessa’s courtship?”
Amy’s cousin, Jessa Duggar, is currently in a courtship with Ben Seewald. Although she wasn’t officially introduced to Ben, Amy saw him from afar at the Duggar flea market. “They seemed really happy," Amy stated. “He never left her side,” she added. Amy explained that she always thought Jessa would be the first Duggar girl to get married. However, she added rather sheepishly that another Duggar daughter could soon follow Jessa’s path. “You never know,” Amy Duggar told Examiner. Hmmm…
3. “What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?”
Amy is very open to receiving advice, especially when it comes from her beloved grandmother, who once told her, “Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future.” Amy said that she has a tight-knit group of friends that she loves dearly. “I’d rather have a small group of friends that mean something rather than hundreds of people that will come in and out of your life.”
4. “What advice can you give others?”
“Guard your heart,” Amy replied quickly. She warned that guys might not always mean what they say, so it’s important to be careful how much of your heart you give away.
5. “What do you like to do in your spare time?”
In her spare time, Amy enjoys spending quality time with her family. With a big move potentially on the horizon, she wants to surround herself with people who mean the most to her, especially her mom and dad.
6. “What was your favorite episode of ’19 Kids and Counting’?”
Amy couldn’t come up with a specific show, but said that she loved the series of three episodes that focused on the Duggar’s overseas trip to England, Scotland and Israel. “It was incredible to go around the world,” she stated. “It made me realize we’re just a grain of sand in the big scheme of things.”
7. “Do you have any plans for Halloween?”
Halloween is one of Amy’s favorite holidays. Last weekend, she dressed up as a ventriloquist dummy and headed to a friend’s party. On Oct. 31, she will dress up again, this time as something different, and help a friend celebrate her birthday.
8. “What's your favorite color, TV show, song and movie?”
Emerald green is Amy Duggar’s favorite color and she loves to watch “The Big Bang Theory” and “Nashville” on TV when she has time. Her favorite song of all-time is “Wasted Time” by the Eagles. Amy doesn’t really have a favorite movie, but enjoys a funny comedy or an action-packed drama. She’s also a fan of the “Harry Potter” movies.
9. “What do you read for daily inspiration?”
The Duggar family holds nightly bible sessions. Amy turns to the “Jesus Calling” devotional by Sarah Young. It’s filled with uniquely inspired treasures from heaven for every day of the year. Amy reads the devotional regularly and says it helps her stay the course.
10. “Are you excited about the future?”
“I’ve been really, really good,” Amy replied happily. Although she couldn’t reveal any specifics, she is on the threshold of a new beginning and new challenges. “It’s an exciting time for me,” she added enthusiastically.
