Amy Adams finally hits it big with first starring role in sci-fi movie

Amy Adams is poised to star in "The Story of Your Life," an adaptation of a short story by Nebula and Hugo Award-winning author Ted Chiang. The flick is being directed by Denis Villeneuve, whose credits include "Prisoners," according to The Hollywood Reporter on April 2.

Amy Adams, loved for her roles in films like "Julie & Julia", "Enchanted" and of course "American Hustle", her latest sees playing the part of an expert linguist, enlisted by the military to determine whether aliens come in peace or are a threat.

As she learns to communicate with the aliens, she begins experiencing vivid flashbacks that become the key to unlocking greater mysteries about the true purpose of their visit.

Though filming isn't scheduled to start until early next year, that still gives plenty of time to be excited for Adams' first major, solo leading role.

Amy has earned five Oscar nominations in just nine years. She's proven to be one of the most talented actors in Hollywood working today.

If you haven't seen her work, you must watch her craft alongside Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman in "Doubt", as well as with Meryl in the duo-biopic "Julie & Julia".

Most of Amy's movies so far see her in a supporting part. Hopefully this latest role will put this talented woman in the forefront of today's working actors. Amy is coming off an Oscar nomination for her work in "Hustle."

In the can Amy has, "Lullaby," a drama-slash-biography directed by Tim Burton, "Object of Beauty," an untitled Janis Joplin biopic, and now, "Story of Your Life."

She also has another buzz-hot film set to debut called, "Big Eyes", in which she portrays painter Margaret Keane.

Critics are advising to mark your calendars, because in the next few years it's going to be all about Amy Adams, and you won’t want to miss a single moment of her screen time.
