Two nights of the restructured Pro Arenacross Class and a full amateur schedule for the Baltimore round will bring tight indoor racing close to home.
This means a lot of Pennsylvania racers will be dusting off their machines and entering one of the most competitive series our sport has to offer. However there is one Pennsylvania rider who has been preparing long before this weekend's Baltimore round. In fact that preparation was most evident when Indiana PA's Michael McDade won the second main Friday, January 4th 2013 at the opening round of the AMSOIL Arenacross.
McDade's win is not much of a surprise to the people closest to his program but he isn't a house hold name on the National Arenacross scene. Those names belong to riders who have been racing and winning in this series for years. Riders like two time arenacross champion Tyler Bowers, last year's Baltimore AX winner Jeff Gibson and former supercross racers Kelly Smith and Daniel Blair. These familiar racers became familiar because of the multiple wins or podiums they have experienced over the years and Michael McDade will have to be consistent in his results to put himself in the minds of the average fan as one of those house hold names.
After McDade clinched the AX East Lites Champion in 2012 he was on his way to becoming a familiar name in that localized series and after his consistent weekend at round one of the 2013 AMSOIL Arenacross Series last weekend he is on his way to challenging Tyler Bowers for the AX Class championship.
