AMSOIL Arenacross racing returns to Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena February 8th & 9th. The full circuit professionals race on Saturday, with the best local amateurs competing on Sunday. The Sacramento event is the 6th round of 12 for the 2014 season.

Arenacross runs in a conventional motocross race format with 8-lap heat races, 4-lap last chance qualifier (LCQ) and two, 12-lap main event races. There are two major racing classes, Lites and Premier, but both classes race 250cc four-stroke motorcycles. The tracks themselves are also built to standards, the most basic of which include approximately 1,000 foot length, four turns and “the catapult” finish line jump. Minor variations do occur from one venue to the next.

The 2014 season is being hotly contested thus far with Zach Ames in the lead at 151 points, but hot on his heels are Michael McDade and Tyler Bowers with 149 and 145 respectively.

Doors open for the Saturday event at 6:00 pm, but you can attend the free Track Party at 5:00 pm by showing up with a valid Saturday ticket and a Monster Energy can to recycle. This will be your opportunity to meet the riders up close and personal, and get autographs.

For additional information, see the official website for the Sacramento Event.
