Celebrate the arrival of spring at the Amity Daffodil Festival March 22-23, 2014. The festival features walks to visit Fanning Daffodil Farm and the Brigittine Monastery. It starts and ends at the Daffodil Festival which features a daffodil show, lunch buffet and plant sale.
The festival is held at Amity School, 300 Rice Lane, Amity, OR 97101, in the Yamhill Valley southwest of Portland. Walk registration and start is open from 8 am until 1 pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
Walkers can choose a 5K (3.1 mile), 10K (6.2 mile) or 20K (12.6 mile) route. The walk is through the small town of Amity and on country roads, with a significant hill up to the vista from the daffodil farm.
The walk is offered for free (donation appreciated) or $3 for IVV volkssport credit. The walk is hosted by the Eugene-Springfield Mossback Club.
Amity is located 7 miles south of McMinnville. From Portland, it is 45 miles south on 99W. From Salem, take Hwy 22 to Rickreall, then north 11 miles on 99W. From Hwy. 18 go east on Bellevue, (by Lawrence Gallery) for 6 miles.
The Amity Daffodil Festival is produced by the Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation class of Amity High School in cooperation with the Oregon Daffodil Society. Since 1995, the festival has allowed hands-on experience in all fields of hospitality, including events, food and beverage, lodging and travel. Proceeds benefit the Amity Daffodil Festival Scholarship Fund.
