Tonight's two-hour special episode of "Amish Mafia" was titled, "The Book of Merlin." Merlin is the head of the "Amish Mafia" in Holmes, Ohio. Please see "The Book of Merlin" part 1 for the beginning of the story.
After Levi dropped Esther off, he met up with Alvin. They must set a trap to find John because Esther does not know where he is. While Alvin and Jolin were on the hunt, they checked out the huts. John borrowed an English friend's car to load his belongings and prepare to hide somewhere other than the huts. Jolin and Alvin spotted John and gave chase with the camera crew close behind. John knew that if the cameras were not there; they would have beaten the crap out of him.
They locked John in an empty grain silo and went to get Levi. John told them that if Levi paid him better, this would not have happened. John pleaded with them that he was trying to make extra money to pay his bills. When Levi came to see John, he asked him why he went behind his back. John told him that he does not get paid enough. Levi told the cameras that one must work their way up to make more money. Levi told him he would have given him more money before if he could trust him. They continued to argue, and Levi told John that if he was in command, he would keep the community's money instead of helping the community. Levi said that he did not keep the community's money, that he made his money in his business and construction. He told John that he was taking the community down, and his sister was no better. Then he locked him in the silo and left.
When Levi left the silo, he told Jolin to go in there and straighten John out. Alvin said he knew what that meant. Jolin went into the silo. When he came back outside, the producer asked him what happened in the silo. Jolin would not talk about it. They asked him if he took care of John the way Levi asked him to, and he said he did his job and would not discuss it any further.
After Jolin left, the camera spotted John leaving the scene in a hurry. He took his belongings and headed to Ohio. John feels that the only way to clear his debt with Merlin is to work with him. He called Esther to tell her that he is in Ohio and plans to repay his debts. Esther is worried about John working for Merlin and being on the bad side of Levi.
When John went to Merlin's office, Wayne was outside and shook hands with him. John told Merlin that he wanted to repay his debt. Merlin immediately told John that he did not trust him. John told Merlin that he would have more opportunities working for him than with Levi. Merlin told him that he was going from a mom and pop operation to a Fortune 500. Does Merlin really consider himself that high on the food chain? Merlin knows that John is weak, and that he will never rise up in his organization, but has to befriend him to get his investment back.
Merlin handed John the Amish bible and told him to study it to prove that his intentions are honorable. After that he showed John his chess board. He told him that in Ohio, he was the king. John told the cameras that he was here to take the king down.
In Lancaster, Levi and Alvin were outside of the silo. Alvin told Levi that when he looked inside, John was gone. Levi told the cameras that since Alan went to jail, things have been going downhill. John and Esther betrayed him; Jolin has a problem, and he has no idea what it is; he told him to take care of John, and apparently he did not. He told Alvin that he had better not turn his back on him.
In Ohio, John is living in one of Merlin's trailers, and he is starting from the bottom up. The trailer is a dump, but John told him that it was better than sleeping in the rain. Merlin taught John more about playing chess. He told him that he was king in Ohio, and showed him the bishop. He told John that in Pennsylvania, everyone feared the bishop, but in Ohio, the bishops listen to him. He told John that he was a pawn.
Levi went to Esther to see if she would tell him where John was. He told her if she is working for him, she should tell him. She told him she was not working for him, and neither is John. He told her that he had her figured out. She is controlling, and probably controls John. That she tricked him into going to Florida, and he knows it. He called her to find out where John was, and he was angry at her. Funny; Levi never seems to get too angry, he has his henchmen to do the dirty work.
Esther then went to the gun range to find Jolin and tell him that he has no chance of moving up in Levi's organization. He taught her how to shoot a rifle. Esther really liked shooting and said it gave her an adrenalin rush. She then sat and talked with Jolin and talked about how Levi runs the community. She compared it to how her father ran the community with compassion and love. He told her that he did not feel working for Levi was for him, and he thought about finding a regular job. She told him that Levi looked down on him because he is Mennonite, and that is a huge lack of respect. Esther knows that Levi will be even weaker without Jolin.
Levi has moved his office to a double-wide trailer further away. Alvin asked Levi if he was afraid that Merlin would find this trailer and destroy it too? Levi is not afraid of Merlin, and if he wants a war, Levi will give him a war. As Levi is driving, he gets a phone call from Alan Beiler, who is very upset. Levi told them to stop filming while he spoke to him.
A short time after, Levi met up with Jolin. He asked Levi what his position was in the organization. He told him that it was the same as it always was. Levi is upset with John's betrayal and Jolin for not following his orders. Jolin feels that he owes no loyalty to Levi if he is not loyal to him. Levi told him to straighten up or ship out.
In Ohio, Merlin took John around to show him how he works. He showed him his building material business that he sells to the Amish as well as the English.
Jolin called Levi to meet up with him. When they met Jolin told Levi he was quitting and gave him back his phone and walked away. Alvin felt bad because he liked Jolin, and he was his right-hand man.
In Ohio, John was inducted into Merlin's group and swore allegiance to him. John knows that according to Amish Law, that is worshiping a false prophet.
Jolin went to a gun shop to make sure he was prepared if he ever got pulled back into the conflict. He has a feeling that this is not over yet.
Merlin set up a meeting with Levi to meet in person. Merlin called him out because he does not wear a hat, the symbol of an Amish man. He also told him the car he drove is not humble. Merlin told him that the war was on!
On his way back from a business call, Levi saw smoke. It as his new trailer. So Levi and Alvin went to Ohio and saw the bishop to tell him what was happening. Levi had Merlin shunned.
The producers were there when Alan got out of jail. He borrowed a phone to call Levi; he plans to take him down. Is he the devil that is coming to the March special episode? Guess it is just a waiting game to see if Levi gets his!
