Tonight's "Amish Mafia" gave fans more insight into the Amish community. As this episode opens, an Amish woman is separating white powder with a credit card and putting it into plastic bags. Esther relates how the customs of the Amish will not allow modern conveniences, and their clothing is dark and simple. Religion is their top priority, but Levi and his gang are the Amish Mafia; they protect those who cannot protect themselves.
A neighbor told Levi that someone was messing around at Big Steve’s house, Levi knows that by messing with his guys, they are messing with him. As they check it out, his house is ransacked and Steve was not there.
Merlin is on his way to Lancaster, after discovering that Levi has a secret maple syrup business. He learned this by having Wayne collect Levi’s trash. Merlin has his own spy in the Lancaster community; someone very close to Levi. He met with the person, who happened to be Alan Beiler, who will do anything to get even with Levi for turning him over to the police. When Merlin approached, he was surprised, as he sent an anonymous letter to him to set up a meeting. Alan is leery because the last person who turned against Levi was John, and that did not end too well.
As Levi and Alvin scoured Lancaster, nobody had seen Big Steve, and Levi is very concerned. He believes he knows who did this to Steve and went looking for Alan. As he spotted Alan talking with someone, he confronted him and asked if he knew where Big Steve was? Alan is tired of Levi hovering over him, and may just be interested in Merlin’s offer.
At home, Esther’s mother is pressuring her to find a good Amish man and settle down. Her mother wants her to go with Levi, but she told her mother that what you see is certainly not what you get, and Levi is a dark soul.
Levi has seen construction jobs that he bid on being given to Mennonites. Levi hates to lose out on jobs because they keep Amish in jobs and keep the Lancaster community going. Amish learn woodworking at a very young age, and carpenters are the most respected jobs in the community. Levi wants Alvin to check and see why he is not getting these jobs, but Alvin needs a ride, since he lost his license in Florida.
Levi and Alvin went to the site, and Levi approached the construction foreman. He told Levi that the Mennonites gave him a better price for the job. If Levi loses credibility in the community, the Amish aid could come to an end. Levi told the man that he was bringing back his Amish workers.
Merlin again went to Alan to prove that he could trust him. He told him that he had big plans for Lancaster, and he could be a great help. Alan wanted to know what was in it for him? He showed Alan the evidence against Levi that was found in his trash. Alan never knew about the maple syrup business, but knows that it can be a huge source of income. Merlin wants to put an end to the business. Alan knows that by keeping this business a secret, Levi does not have to pay into Amish aid. If the church knew about his maple syrup business, they would come down on him very hard. Because Levi has been breaking Alan’s balls lately, the offer is sounding very good.
Levi knows that when people invite him over to have tea and cake and meet their daughters, they want him in their family. Levi knows that Amish girls are boring and talking about work and horses is a drag. Amish girls are usually married off by the time they are nineteen. When a man marries, he starts growing a beard, but spousal abuse can be a factor in Amish marriages, because divorce is not allowed. Levi knows that eventually he will marry, it will be good for his business.
As Esther is working at her sewing circle, she asks another woman about her family. She tells her that her brother-in-law is having heart trouble and went to the government for help. This action could get them shunned, because Amish are not supposed to go to the government for help, that is what Amish aid is for. The woman also warned Esther that because her brother is possessed by the devil, it could happen to her. Since Freeman is back, even John has been acting stranger, and it is affecting the community.
Levi put in a call to Jolin, who does not have anything to say to him. However, Levi wants to talk to him about the Mennonite community working in the construction that his men should be doing. Jolin is a Mennonite, and wants to find out what is going on.
Wayne and Merlin went to the trees that are the source of Levi’s syrup business and chopped them down. An Amish man told Levi about the trees and said that it was a little boy who chopped down the trees. Levi knew exactly who it was. Alan knows that Levi cannot do a thing about it, because his guys will want a cut, and the church can never know.
Meanwhile, Big Steve remains missing. As Jolin understands that Levi needs his help, he just does not want to be tied up in his world again. When Jolin met with Levi, he offered him Paradise, a town in Lancaster county, that he would turn over to him, if he helped him. Jolin knows that Levi must be desperate to make him such an offer. Jolin with have to think it over, but Levi knows that it is too good an offer for a Mennonite to turn down.
After the trees were down, Merlin had business to tend to in Ohio, and went back home. A neighbor alerted him that there were a lot of English cars leaving certain property; a very unusual sight in an Amish town. He believes that they are running an illegal bed and breakfast, which is forbidden by the church. Merlin and Wayne went to visit the home, but they did not find anything this time. Wayne will check it out as he watches the place for a few days.
Caleb came to see Levi, who had a job for him. A man is taking pictures of Amish people and selling them to a magazine. It is against their second commandment to have graven images, and Caleb will be sent as a warning to the man. If he persists, Levi will see him the next time.
Wayne saw people pulling into the driveway of the house; he asked them if they were lost. They told him they were looking for an Amish bed and breakfast. Wayne then went to the door and demanded an explanation. The man begged him not to tell the bishop. Wayne will not tell, provided the man keeps paying him. This is being done because Merlin never paid him for getting him unshunned, and Merlin will not know about this either.
Levi sees Crazy Dave and warns him that the hut parties he is running are not doing well, and he will now be running thelaundry hut, where an Amish woman was putting detergent into bags for sale, hence the white powder. There are washers and dryers there for the kids to do their laundry. Amish kids come there to wash and dry their English clothes, because their parents cannot see the clothes they wear on weekends. Dave does not feel that this job is a man’s job, but Levi is the boss.
Caleb is on his way to see the photographer; his friend is driving him because he does not want anyone to recognize his truck. As he approaches the man, he tells him that it is a free country, and he can take pictures of whatever he wants. Caleb throws his camera to the ground and warns him not to come there again. When he sees the camera filming the incident, he wants $400 for filming him, but his face was blanked out, not revealing his identity.
Jolin is on the way to meet with the Mennonites, who got the construction job. He tells the camera crew to stay in the truck. The producer found out that Jolin turned off his microphone. Jolin stated that it was a problem between two Mennonites and nobody else. He went back to see Levi and tell him the problem was solved as Caleb watched from afar, he does not know what is going on, but does not want to see Jolin around Levi, but he knows nothing about the deal.
Levi got a call that Crazy Dave passed out alongside the road, drunk in his buggy. Esther said it is a BUI or buggying under the influence. This is a dangerous thing, because although a horse can find its way home, it cannot read stop signs. Besides losing their lives, the driver can also lose their horse, a large investment in an Amish home and if a car is involved in the accident, the police get involved. Levi took Dave to an Amish rehab facility. The people there have no medical background, and legend has it that it is a place of horror. Alan heard stories of people going there and never heard from again. When Dave saw what was about to happen, he would not get out of the car, but two men in a van took him away. Levi tried to help him before, now someone else will take over.
Esther found John and Freeman sitting in the loft. She asked him what was going on, and he told her they were talking. Freeman has not spoken to anyone since they brought him back from North Dakota. Suddenly, a siren is heard outside and a state constable took Freeman away.
When the producer asked Esther if she called the cops on Freeman, she did not admit it. She did say that he was possessed by the devil, the entire community wanted him gone, and she also said it solves a lot of her problems on this episode of "Amish Mafia."
