On the Jan. 2 episode of "Amish Mafia," one of the men from Merlin's crew shows the inside of an Amish home. While the house appeared to genuine, the reality show did make one mistake when they showed viewers an Amish bathroom.
In the show, viewers saw one toilet without indoor plumbing as well as three buckets underneath a bench. The "Amish Mafia" cast member explained that it was set up that way because sometimes more than one person has to use the restroom at once.
However, after some research, it turns out that this may be incorrect. The Amish are very conservative and would never empty their bladders in front of another person, even if it is just women. Also, Cottages at Golden Gate Get-a-Way Bed & Breakfast wrote on their blog that most of the homes have indoor plumbing, which means that the majority of the Amish have bathrooms, including toilets that flush. However, they did admit that there are some communities that do not use indoor plumbing, but they use outhouses, not buckets.
Were you laughing when Merlin's associate showed viewers the Amish bathroom inside of the house? What did you think of the latest episode of "Amish Mafia?"
