If you love horses then you won't want to miss the annual Horse Progress Days event being held at the Mount Hope Auction grounds in Millersburg, Ohio in the heart of Holmes County Amish country on Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5. Millersburg is approximately a 90 minute drive from Cleveland.

Horse Progress Days A celebration of working horses in the middle of Ohio farm country, Horse Progress Days strives to promote and encourage the combination of animal power and the latest innovations in farm equipment in the Draft Horse Industry.

Visitors to Horse Progress Days will be able to see the horses (in addition to ponies, mules and oxen) in action as they give demonstrations of plowing, haymaking, logging, produce farming and tillage skills . The demonstrations will include one- horse hitches all the way up to 12- horse hitches.

The event will also include various seminars and woodlot walks . Visitors to the Homemake tent will be able to get valuable information from professionals about healthy foods and home health care. There will also be an auction on Friday at 4 p.m.

Children's activities include playing on swing sets and meeting and greeting animals at the petting zoo.

A highlight of each day will be the Parade of Breeds (6 p.m. on Friday and 5 p.m. on Saturday) where guests have the opportunity to see a wide variety of horse breeds up close in addition to various hitches (1-6 horses) and a team of bridle-less horses that will demonstrate a true human-horse relationship and bond.

A variety of snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.

Hours for Horse Progress Days are 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults. Children 12 and younger are free.

The Mount Hope Auction grounds is located at 8076 State Route 241 in Millersburg, Ohio. It is approximately a 1.5 hour drive from Cleveland.
