An Amish buggy accident has claimed the lives of an Amish mother and her daughter after a semi-truck plowed into the back of their horse-drawn buggy, UPI reported on Dec. 1.

The victims of the Amish buggy accident were identified as Mary Byler, 34, and her daughter, 11, whose name was not released by authorities. They died at the scene.

Injured in the Amish buggy accident was Byler’s husband, William, who was flown to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio, ABC News reported. His condition had been reported as critical at the time of the Amish buggy crash.

The horse in the Amish buggy accident was so severely injured that it was put down.

Details of how the Amish buggy accident occurred are still unclear.

The crash occurred late on Saturday afternoon on Pulaski Mercer Road about 60 miles northwest of Pittsburgh when a semi-truck driven by Matthew Coulter, 36, of Pulaski, struck the back of the Amish buggy, according to the Inquisitr. The driver of the semi was said to be uninjured.
