On Monday evening, Oct. 28, former world champion Amir Khan made a surprise visit to Fox Sports 1’s airwaves during their latest telecast from the Sports House in Redwood City, Calif.

Khan is presently in Northern California working with his trainer Virgil Hunter as rumors of his future continue to swirl, with the biggest buzz being that of a potential fight with Floyd Mayweather in 2014.

Asked by analyst Barry Tompkins about his next move, Khan claimed that he is in the dark as much as anyone.

“We’re still working on a few things,” Khan stated. “We were looking at a fight against Alexander. That fell through. There’s a lot of talk about the Mayweather fight happening, but at the moment, I’ve left it up to my team and Golden Boy.”

As for his genuine interest in such a match, Khan was quick to affirm his feelings.

“I would love the fight,” the British star stated. “It would be an amazing fight. It’s a fight I’ve always wanted.”

At 36 years old, Mayweather is still in rare form, having recently outclassed Mexican superstar Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez inside of the MGM Grand on Sept. 14.

It seems to be a puzzle for opponents trying to figure out a realistic game plan that would work against Mayweather, given his vast array of skills and defensive prowess.

Still, Khan isn’t short on confidence.

“With Floyd Mayweather, if you’re going to be a puncher, you’re going to walk towards him and you’re going to walk into his shots,” said Khan. “To fight Floyd Mayweather, you have to box him at his own game. You have to box him; you have to use speed, good footwork. Make them old legs move.”
