One thing is clear, Floyd Mayweather Junior’s next super event will not be against Manny Pacquiao, but against Amir Khan.

With so many indicators pointing to the fruition of a long awaited fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao, Golden Boy Promotions seems to be moving full steam ahead in creating a match against Khan.

Though Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank, Pacquiao’s representation, have ended a cold war which kept from the firms working together to make fights, it is clear Golden Boy would much rather promote a huge event between two of their fighters – Mayweather and Khan.

“Look, a fight between Khan and Mayweather in 2012, right before the Olympics in London would be huge,” said an unidentified source close to Golden Boy Promotions

Mayweather seems to have signed off on the idea of traveling to London in order to fight Khan at Wembley Stadium, and the British up and comer has been calling out Mayweather at every opportunity.

So boxing fans, as much as you may wish and pray for a battle between Mayweather and Pacquiao – you might have to wait until late 2012, or 2013.

For now Mayweather has a September 17 date with Victor Ortiz to be carried by HBO Pay Per View in the United States, and to be held at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand.
