Lightweight Champion Amir "I'm afraid of Breidis Prescott" Khan is again making delusional and disturbing comments regarding his boxing career.
The latest suggestion from Khan centers on his intriguing self-opinion that he will move up to the 147 lbs. welterweight division, destroy Floyd "Maynever", Jr., then move again to the 154 lbs. junior middleweight division, and gain that title before retiring.
One can question when the psychiatric evaluations have not already begun for the self-proclaimed "best in the 140 pound division", when he has plenty of work in that weight class before mentioning the likes of Floyd "Maynever", Jr.
Having already eliminated Manny Pacquiao from his list of competitors was a weird enough proclamation, but to claim he now has a "four year plan" before retiring, is absurd, disturbing, and delusional.
The lightweight (140 lbs,) division has Timothy Bradley, Devon Alexander, Breidis "Khan-queror" Prescott, and Juan Manuel Marquez, headlining a division that requires the undivided attention of Khan before he continues down his path of self-righteousness.
Golden Boy Promotions head honchos Oscar De La Hoya and Richard Schaefer continue to feed the ego of the United Kingdom star who has now seemingly irritated even some of his countrymen with his false bravado
Having stated that he wanted to fight before his fans in the United Kingdom before looking to take on the winner of the Bradley/Alexander bout on January 29, 2011, Khan is leaning towards either Lamont Peterson, or Zab Judah as a March 16, 2011 opponent.
Safe, is what Khan appears to be looking at for his fight in front of his UK fans, even though a bout with Prescott, the man who destroyed him in front of the same UK fans with a devastating first round knockout, is available and chirping.
Very soon, Amir Khan will have relegated himself from "star status", to what clearly seems his true place is , "wannabe status".
Golden Boy Promotions has been of no help, when sitting idly by as Khan announced his refusal to ever engage in a bout with current Pound-for-Pound titleist Manny Pacquiao, allegedly because of (trainer of both men) Freddie Roach's declaration that "Manny Pacquiao is my guy. Should he and Amir Khan ever fight, I would be in the corner of Manny Pacquiao".
Devastating words, especially for Oscar De La Hoya to hear, for a fighter who came to the United States claiming that "within eighteen months, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. will both have been defeated by me".
Those were tough words then, and even tougher words now, for a man who has successfully joined the Golden Boy group of promisers who seldom deliver the "fights that fight fans want to see".
Whether Amir Khan becomes the superstar many in the sport seem convinced he will be, remains to be seen.
What is more than obvious to any fan, is that Khan needs to do more fighting, and less talking, both in and out of the ring.
Candace Sullivan (Denver): "Amir Khan is ducking both Prescott and Marquez, but still claims he is the best"?
Wendy Garza (Aurora): "Marcos Maidana was slow, and easy to hit, but he still took Khan to the brink. Who truly believes he could beat Floyd, Marquez, or Bradley"?
David Jackson (Denver): "How did Pacquiao and Khan become such great buddies that Khan says he'd never fight him? I've never heard Pacquiao say he'd never fight Khan, or did I miss something"?

Not sure about this criticism. Khan sounds like any confident young fighter. There is also nothing, technically, delusional about this. This is his best case scenario, in his fantasy, and remember that this is the fantasy of a guy who IS champion, is generally regarded to be very, very gifted, and who survived a major assault by a dangerous fighter he was thoroughly dominating. Maidana gives anyone in the world at that weight a very dangerous fight. That was the prevailing opinion BEFORE Khan fought him. So why disparage him now? As for Prescott, a revenge match would be nice, but since Prescott has nothing else distinguishing his career, it isn't necessary....might not even be a legitimate optional fight for the champ to take, based on Prescott's ranking. If Khan's chin holds up, he is likely to develop into a first-class and potentially great champion. So, his youthfully exuberant exaggeration is really not far removed from reality. Actuallty, anyone getting in the ring with Mayweather is now not all that likely. As for ducking claims, fighters don't really duck each other. Matches are usually made by businessmen, and this imaginary "ducking" is a fetish of fans who like to imagine who's scared of whom. Nothing to do with reality. Fighters at this level rarely fight more than three or four times a year. There is always someone waiting on the sidelines, and it has nothing to do with ducking.
very well said indeed! if Alexander, and tim brads can say they would like to fight mayweather whats so wrong if Khan has the desire to do so also??? you are spot on with all u said there hibert :)
Your comments are valid from a strictly business standpoint. Fighters are always looking for a challenge, and when there is one from an opponent that thoroughly dominated you, that challlenge MUST be vindicated. You may not feel Prescott is a threat to Khan, but Golden Boy and Khan BOTH feel having Prescott meet Khan in England on March 16th, is a serious concern. As I stated, Khan may be the great champion many feel he will be, but DUCKING the man who KNOCKED YOU OUT, as any boxer (not manager or promotor) would tell you, is unacceptable...
But Stephen who knows what maybe happen down the line, if Prescott becomes bigger and does better in future than a revenge match would be even greater not only for excitement for fans but on a business level also. Given the choice i as a fan would much rather see khan take on brads or Alexander.
This is such a false article, where did you get the quotes? Freddie Roach never said that! Why would he duck a terrible fighter in Prescott? False reporting
Khan is going to be a great champion. I can see him beating Floyd
@Zane: There are several available quotes from Freddie Roach regarding a possible matchup of Manny Pacquiao vs Amir Khan.

This is one of many that (according to your slander) now validate my article as both true and accurate reporting...@darkprince: I appreciate your opinion on both a fan and business level. I just want you to put yourself in Prescott's place as the only one to DESTROY Khan. If Prescott was your son, brother, nephew, etc., would not you say "forget the business aspect, my guy kicked his butt"? Just saying...@Hilbert: Perception is reality, and myself with millions of other fans are part of the "imaginery" reality that Khan was KO'd by Prescott and now feels he has no need to erase the one spectacular KO loss on his record.
Thanks to all for your comments, as it is obvious we are all fans of the sport with valid opinions.
The article in it's entireity...

Four-time Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach was questioned about a possible fight between two of his pupils, WBO welterweight and WBC junior middleweight champion Manny Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KOs), and WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KOs). The two fighters are friends, but a fight between the two of them could fall in line if they continue winning.
Khan plans a move to Pacquiao's division by the end of next year. A few weeks back when Pacquiao and Khan were sparring in the Philippines, Roach saw the gap in talent starting to close. When the two boxers sparred a few years ago, Khan was dominated by Pacquiao. This time around, Khan gave as good as he got.
"Amir and Manny have sparred quite a bit. There have been days where he's gotten the best of Manny, and days where Manny has gotten the best of Amir. I think that actually, [Juan Manuel] Marquez brings more money to the table. Amir is a good draw," Roach said.
Roach would do everything in his power to prevent the two boxers from facing each other, but if the two boxers would ever come together and agree to a fight - Roach makes it clear that he would be working the corner of Pacquiao.
"[I would work the corner of] Manny Pacquiao. Manny Pacquiao's my guy," Roach said.

This is nothing compared to Fraud Gayfeathers Jr. declaring himself the GOAT and above Robinson and Ali.
To the writer,
Khan has done more then you could ever have dreamed of already at 24. Where was Mayweather and Pacquio at 24? Khan has serious potential
Khan MUST have a rematch with Prescott, otherwise he will lose the respect of the fans. Lennox Lewis avenged his KO defeats..why should khan be any different? At the time I liked Lewis's attitude..he always wanted to get straight back in with the fighter that beat him. Khan is different it seems. Now tell me if there is anyone who wouldn't pay to see Khan vs Presscott 2..i know i would. Much better than Pac vs Mosley!!!
