A Western New York family restaurant group is counting on better success than a chain family restaurant had at an Amherst location. Honey's, which began in Niagara Falls, then expanded to the Boulevard Mall, on Wednesday obtained a permit to finish converting the building at 4300 Maple Road at Sweet Home in Amherst.

The building had been occupied by Fuddruckers, the burger-centric family restaurant chain that twice operated at that address. It originally opened in 1986, closed in late 2002, reopened in February 2003 under different ownership, then closed Gin, permanently.

Rod Cameron, supervising code enforcement officer for the Town of Amherst, said Honey's officials have not yet said when they plan to open their third location. The original Honey's, located at 6560 Niagara Falls Boulevard in Niagara Falls, was opened in 1962 by the Pacifico family. Phone: (716) 297-7900.
