According to the Canadian Press on Wednesday, Calgary resident Stephen Ames will be inducted into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and Museum in Oakville, Ontario.

Ames has competed in major golf championships since 1993, and has finished in the top ten six times. His greatest claim to fame was winning the 2006 Players' Championship by a whopping six strokes over Retief Goosen. The Players' Championship is regarded by many as the unofficial major on the Professional Golf Association tour.

Ames has also won the Children's Miracle Network Classic at Walt Disney World in Florida twice (in 2007 and 2009) and the Cialis Western Open in Chicago in 2004.

Ames was a native of Trinidad and Tobago, and moved to Calgary upon meeting his wife Jodi. He has been a Canadian citizen for the last eleven years.

Ames was also instrumental in bringing a Champions Tour event to Calgary in 2013.
