February 1, 2012 - As part of the Jazz at the Bowl series, the Hollywood Bowl presents Americas and the Americans, a week in mid-August of 2012 that will see outstanding Latin talent perform every evening.
On August 14th Juan Luis Guerra, known internationally for popularizing bachata and merengue from the Dominican Republic, will perform with the Los Angeles Philharmonic – Gustavo Dudamel conductor.
Ruben Blades, Panamanian actor-singer-lawyer-politician-poet and Latin Jazz/Salsa star, will perform on August 15th bringing the infectious Salsa and thinking person lyrics that have won him the nickname of the “Latin Bruce Springsteen.” The Eddie Palmieri Salsa Orchestra joins Blades this evening. Palmieri, known for his charismatic power and bold pioneering drive, has a musical career that spans over 50 years as a bandleader of both Salsa and Latin jazz orchestras.
Venuezuelan-Argentinian classical pianist Sergio Tiempo will perform on August 16th with the Los Angeles Philharmonic – Gustavo Dudamel conductor.
Colombian superstar and 17-time Latin Grammy winner Juanes will be at the Bowl on August 17th and 18th with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra – Thomas Wilkins conductor.
World famous tenor Placido Domingo will join the Los Angeles Philharmonic on August 19th with popular arias and Latin American melodies – Gustavo Dudamel conductor.
