Americans capsize Mississippi RiverKings

SOUTHAVEN, Mississippi -- Despite hitting the rink slow the Allen Americans fought back for a 3-2 win over Mississippi.

The RiverKings hit the ice on fire outshooting Allen 15-5 in the first period. Two of those shots got past Chris Whitley for a 2-0 lead for the hosts. Allen made some defensive adjustments after the period propelling their offense and leading to fourteen shots on goal in the second period.

Two second period goals by Nino Musitelli tied the game and strong goaltending from Whitley kept Mississippi off the scoreboard. Ryan Fairbarn's third period goal was the winner and Whitley stopped fifteen RiverKing shots sealing the victory.

Allen is second in the Central Hockey League with 61 points. For the full boxscore click here.
