American Unemployed are MAD as hell at being ignored. Every day in our country, millions of unemployed are suffering greatly, going hungry, homeless and literally dying. So what is our government doing to help? NOTHING!

The purpose of the state is to help it’s citizens not only to live, but also to live well; it is, by its very nature, a means to these ends, and it serves these ends only when it promotes the general welfare by preserving peace and helping its people to obtain the things they need that they cannot obtain by their individual efforts.
We can conclude, then, that contractual obligations have a distinctly moral component. Autonomy means that people are held morally responsible for the decisions that they make; since a contract is a voluntary agreement to do something, the responsibility is generated to meet the conditions of the contract.
Look now at those names on your ballot and determine for your selves if these folks have or will meet their moral obligation to the citizens of the United States of America. If you have any doubt that a candidate will do so - DO NOT VOTE FOR THEM.
It comes as no surprise that President Obama nor 95% of all candidates who are actually competing in the up coming election are determined to completely ignore the term “99ers.” The reason is, if the incumbents were to do so, they would surely have to own up to their failure to provide the help these 5 million (or more) Americans so desperately need. Those who are challengers (non-incumbents) this election season also avoid the subject of the 99ers’ dilemma. This greatly angers the 99er Nation beyond words, but what can you do about this? VOTE wisely.
Feelings of "anger" about the country’s economic problems vary across party lines. In a recent ABC News/Yahoo Poll, 12 percent of registered Democrats said they were angry about the economy, compared to 30 percent of independents and more than 40 percent of Republicans.
Of the quarter of the survey's total registered voters who classified themselves as "angry" heading into the midterm elections, a majority said that they blame both parties equally. But an additional 35 percent point the finger just at Democrats, compared to just 10 percent who say the GOP is solely to blame. They also say that they are more likely to vote than those who say that they're "dissatisfied," but not hopping mad.

If the Democrats are guilty of anything, it is that they have worked too slow to save millions of Americans from the inevitable wake of destruction that swelled during the Bush years and began to crash ashore just before Obama took office.
Are you mad as hell? Then this crisis in America demands that you do not sit this one out on November 2, 2010. If you do everything humanly possible to send the best, most humane leaders to Washington and it still does not work - then you still have the option in America to engage in massive protests and civil disobedience. Civil disobedience is sometimes justified in a democracy, but activists must first exhaust the legal channels of change and turn to disobedience only as a last resort. Post election rioting was recently demonstrated in Iran, with tragic results.
If civil unrest is indeed coming to America, due to the failure of our government to meet the needs of millions of hurting citizens - then it may well begin as massive protests. A protest expresses a strong reaction to events or situations. The term protest usually implies a reaction against something, but it could also mean a reaction for something. Protesters may organize a protest as a way of publicly and forcefully making their opinions heard in an attempt to influence public opinion or government policy, or may undertake direct action in an attempt to directly enact desired changes themselves.
With just a week or so until the election of the decade, the first thing that must be done is to keep the oppressors of the middle class out of power. Once the Congress returns to Washington, November 15, 2010 - they must (no matter how this election turns out) address the issue of unemployment extensions (both a Tier 5 and the extension of the dates to file for UI benefits).
If Congress should ignore this priority obligation, then the reaction of those Americans effected by this failure of government is likely to be heard around the world via European type protests in the streets of our own USA shores.
The San Diego Unemployment Examiner is NOT promoting violence or condoning it in any way, but it would be remiss of anyone reporting on the devastation among the 99er Nation to ignore the very real possibility that this may happen very soon - unless Washington does it’s job and takes care of those hurting, desperate people now.

My parents always vote GOP, I think they are brainwashed in thinking its the white thing to do and that you have put the country in debt! I tried to explain what the GOP has done and how they have lied! I/we are poor, white, my dad managed to raise a family of 4 and save 200k after a lifetime of work with overtime ! All 4 of his kids are broke and in debt (how sad) My parents are in their 80's, they have helped us as much as they can! I recently got in an argument with them over defending you over the GOP and havent been able to repair the bond!

the more I study the economy and research how this whole thing works, the more I realize how screwed we all are. I think the dems will pass some kind of UI extension, but I don't think it will be enough. I think we'll be back cap in hand looking for more in 20 weeks.
I worked in construction and I almost had a job, but the project was cancelled yesterday. I am just totally bewildered as to what ANY government is going to do.
I think we can recover for 20 weeks if the right people takes the seat. I can't recall a Democratic party literally said they will ruin the president. I've been hearing a lot of this from then RNC. 20 weeks is probably enough, because they either progress or stand in limbo for two years. I don't think businesses can actually do that for that long period of time. However still given that idea, I am still going for Democrats. There are 5 Republican Senators campaigning there who stated that it is not their job for us to have jobs. Enough said Sharon Angle.

The fall of Rome seems appropriate. In the end days of Rome the elite had the money and power and the economic base collapsed while the Barbarians were hired to guard the borders against themselves. No matter who actually "wins" the mid-terms is probably of little consequence anymore because the economic base has deteriorated to the point where Americans can no longer work to support themselves. The wars have drained our treasury much like the Romans had theirs drained by useless wars. The political fighting is also very similar to Rome's because leadership has become a "clique" that is passed from one house to another while the people become poorer and lose faith in government. This is no longer the United States of America, it is more like the United States of the World with the U.S. footing the bill for a global agenda that can no longer be supported by Americans because their jobs were shipped overseas. These mid-term elections are a turning point where we will be able to look back to and comment that that was the time when the Barbarians took over and America disintegrated. Even though we appeared to have had the best intentions for the world, our overreaching has probably hastened the fall of modern civilization. During the fall of the Roman Empire the tombstones were increasingly marked with this inscription: "I was not, I was, I am not, I have no more desires." It is evident that America has reached the limit of its glory because it will not help its citizens. God Bless America.

It took me forever to read that first one, but I just got sicker and sicker the further I read because nothing has changed and the same scammers that saved the "Too Big To Fail" banks are still in charge of our government.
On the flip side, I finally started talking openly to some of my neighbors about the fact that I may be homeless and starving in a month or so and their reaction is to say that they "understand my frustration with the job search." The folks who still have jobs just don't - or more likely refuse to - understand what is happening and what is coming soon. I have been so ashamed to be an American for so many months.
WOW That took a great deal of courage. It may sound silly - but most of us facing this impending doom are much too cloaked in the shame of it all to reach out. It would not appear as if your neighbors had any answers for you but at least you reached out honestly. How they take it is more on them than you. I pray that you do NOT become homeless.
I will be trying to check out those books from my local library - just as soon as I can afford some anti-nausea medicine...LOL

No matter who wins the election, the banks will still be in charge. The system is rigged for the those at the top and too many Americans are oblivious to the carnage that's occurring around them. There are still a few decent Dems and the unemployed and middle class stand no chance with a Repub takeover.

I just read this and it made me think about my street. 5 neighbors are employed,,7 are semi-retired,and 10 are unemployed. None of us talk about this but you can see their cars parked every day in their driveways. I guess we're all too proud to talk about it.
I agree pride is a fickle b_tch and keeps us/me from exposing our/my true self to others, I don't want to be looked down on, our society is degrading, judgemental and far to cynical! Due to these we are in fear of ourselves, we must overcome..............ourselves!!!
Some people follow the slogan "Fake it, 'til you make it" and don't let others know their situation. I prefer the saying: "The truth will set you free." As a fundraiser, I know that you have to tell your story and ask for help. You're not asking for a handout; you're giving people the opportunity to help in a way that will make them feel good. The unemployed need to tell their story more often and ask for help. Of course, the government should be "promoting the common good" and not just "provide for the common defense," which is the only kind of government spending the GOP will allow. They hate social programs, but they love the military-industrial complex!

I have always wondered what the future would be like - would it continue to get worse, or would we finally turn the corner as a people and make a moral commitment to taking care of all of the people of this country and the world?
Will it take civil disobedience and other actions as you have described, or will we come to our collective senses and learn that we can all live together? Even the rich, they think that they could survive, by means of their extreme wealth and the "safety" that it thinks that it buys them, but I think that they are also putting off the inevitable. It will eventually hurt them too.
Al in all, what bothers me, just as much as this entire issue, is the fact that this nation has become a herd of SHEEP!

Maybe we should all start flooding our respective unemployment agencies with phone calls and tell the employees there and their bosses that they passed a tier 5, we just heard it on the news or from some make believe source, if they call it to the medias attention that there have been millions of calls but dont know where the people calling are getting their sources from, then we achieve more media attention (just a thought)!
GREAT IDEA! I am with calling the unemployment agencies in our own areas. We all surely have the numbers memorized....:) The flood of calls will cause attention! At the same time the media should be informed of the passing of a tier 5. If we got enough attention, Obama will be in the Rose Garden with an explanation. HA!!! What would he explain?

This is the Truth! I just received in the mail today, a new benefit card in the mail from the Employment Security Commission. The letter said to tear up the old one, it was no longer good. See, I am a 99er and my benefits ran out last April! What is going on here? I live in NC. Why in the world did I get a new ESC Debit Card and they ended my benefits in April? Has anyone else of you from NC received this in the mail? Or is somebody gone crazy over at the NC Employment Security Commission? This is too weird!
A friend of mine here (West Palm Beach) received a letter stating he had weeks still available, but he was certain he had reached the maximum. He was shocked but thankful. I havent talked to him since then, so I don't know if he was able to claim weeks or not. We do not have a benefit card here, just information by the US postal service, or if you can get thru by phone.
"How do I claim my Teir 5 Benefits?" I will ask the call center employee when I call my unemployment representative. Thats all we have to say.
I wanted to add that if and when the local news stations get the story, the 99ers without internet will get it also. You know they will begin to call and imagine how many there are. I know many 99ers cannot afford housing, much less internet access.
