American Trakehner Association annual convention

For the first time in it's 36 year history,  Jacksonville Native and founding member Jean Brinkman will attend the American Trakehner Association annul convention.  Brinkman, one of the nation's leading sport horse breeders will be there with her horses to showcase the talented Trakehner horse.

The Trakehner breed is one of the oldest European warmblooded breeds, dating back in history to over 400 years ago.  Facing near extinction after World War II, a corporation was formed giving small breeders the opportunity to preserve and promote the Trakehner horse.  Since then, this breed has produced dressage gold medalist, Moorland's Totilas at the World Equestrian Games and U.S. Olympic team equestrian medalists Abdulllah, Peron and Windfall.

Events include:  Mare & Young Horse Show, Hunter Stakes, Stallion Parade, Jumper Calcutta and Stallion Service Auction.

The convention is open to the public with free admission to spectators and will be at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center from November 11 - 13, 2010.
