Lancaster County is well known for its quilts. This year, beginning today, the American Quilter’s Society will hold its annual QuiltWeek at the Lancaster Convention Center. The location, given our local Old Order community members, seems appropriate.

The Old Order communities – that is, the Amish and Mennonite ladies – are known for their gorgeous, high quality quilts. The quilts are practical items which makes them the perfect gifts. They are often passed down the generations or given as wedding gifts or the birth of a child.

In Lancaster City, at the historic Lancaster Central Market, one stand offers a fine selection of quilts and other crafts for sale. Flower Garden Crafts, owned by Nathan and Sally Lapp of New Holland, offers Sally’s hand made quilts. Central Market is open Tuesdays and Fridays (6 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Saturdays until 2 p.m. Located at 23 North Market Street, Central Market is an easy walk from the Lancaster Convention Center.

There will be over 100 vendors displaying their wares at the show. The Merchant Mall will be open during the regular show hours. Follow QuiltWeek on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/AQSonline.
