'American Idol' winner Scotty McCreery talks college plan on 'Today'

Scotty McCreery may have a Certified Platinum debut album and be the reigning champion of "American Idol," but the teenager is still finding plenty of ways to stay grounded.

In a new interview on "The Today Show" this weekend, the country star said that he is still planning out some of his college applications, and he finds it to be important to continue his life in Garner, North Carolina even as he tours around the country with Brad Paisley. So far, he has been able to do a little bit of everything.

As for why Scotty is making an effort to take on college, he says that it is a good way to stay prepared in the event that he can't always do country music -- in which case he will still have another career to fall back on.

Do you admire Scotty for the ways he is finding to stay grounded.
