On May 26, right after Lee DeWyze was named the latest "American Idol" winner, he gave viewers an Disney fans the expected answer to the question asked in the near-ubiquitous Disney commercial, “Lee Dewyze, you just won 'American Idol. What are you going to do next?"
"I’m going to Disney World!" DeWyze replies.
The commercial ran shortly after “American Idol” announced DeWyze won, and features a montage of DeWyze’s performances accompanied by his version of “When You Wish Upon a Star.”
Both DeWyzye and co-finalist Crystal Bowersox taped their respective versions of the commercial and Disney song in advance of the "American Idol" season finale. A Disney camera crew captured DeWyze’s "I'm going to Disney World" reaction at the Nokia Theater after DeWyze was named this season's "American Idol," adding the famous line to the commercial before it aired.

The “I’m going to Disney World” commercial celebrates "The American Idol Experience" at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney began featuring "American Idol" winners in the commercials after the opening of “The American Idol Experience” opened in 2008. Dewyze became the third "Idol" winner to tape the Disney ad, following David Cook and Kris Allen.
More generally, the “I’m going to Disney World” commercial promotes Walt Disney World Resort and its “where dreams come true” marketing campaign.
The advertising slogan has been the center of an ongoing series of television commercials, beginning in 1987, that promote Walt Disney World and Disneyland. The ads have primarily focused on athletes, notably featuring Super Bowl and Olympic gold winners, although have featured winners from various competitions and events.
