'American Idol': Top 30 with new twist revealed

"American Idol" is getting ready for season 13 on Fox, and now fans are being given more inside scoop on the season ahead. On Thursday, Dec. 26, MJ's Big Blog shared the latest on season 13. The top 30 has been selected, and the site revealed those singers that made it through to that round.

However, there was a bit of a twist involved. There isn't a top 30 this season. Instead, there is a top 31. Sixteen boys were selected to move forward, and those boys were joined by 15 girls. The judges were not able to narrow down the field of boys to just 15. Check out the full list at the link above.

Some faces returned to compete in season 13, but they did not make it into the top 30. None of the returning singers survived Hollywood Week. The judges were looking for new faces this season.

The judges have been enjoying their Christmas and some time off since the end of Hollywood Week earlier this month. The three judges seem to genuinely get along this season though. That was a problem during season 12. Harry Connick Jr. said the following about working with Keith Urban on the panel, according to CMT:

I love being on the panel with him, because he says things I don't think of. That's what you want: three people who have experience, who can come at it from three different angles.

Are you ready for the return of this reality series to Fox? "American Idol" will premiere on Fox on Jan. 15.
