On Tuesday night part 1 of this season’s “American Idol” finale played out and what a show it was. The 2 remaining performers Jena Irene and Caleb Johnson were to sing three songs, the first was Simon Fuller’s choices, -creator of “American Idol”-, and he chose “Dog Days Are Over” for Jena and she was awesome. And then it was Caleb and the song for him was the anthem by Steven Tyler “Dream On”, many have attempted this song, none have succeeded at the high note; however, Caleb carried the high note through and just like Ryan Seacrest pointed out: “it was as though Steven Tyler was channeling through Caleb” fascinating performance could not have been better.

Second was to be the idol’s favorite performance and Jena chose “Falling In Love With You” an Elvis Presley classic and she was great, Caleb took on “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney and the performance did not outdo Jena’s. Third song was an original by each singer and Jena’s was entertaining, Caleb’s was a definite knock out with his powerhouse vocals.

It is a toss up, either one could be the winner, it will again be up to the one with most fans who take the time to vote for their favorite one way or another. No, matter who is crowned on Wednesday night, there will be many pleased and just as many disappointed, these 2 performers are fabulous in their own way and without question both deserve to be American idols, however, only 1 can be the winner. The finale will be full of chills and thrills as many guest performers will make and appearance and Jena, Caleb, and Alex, -eliminated last week-, will perform alongside surprise guests that were chosen last week.

The conclusion to this season of “American Idol” will run on Wednesday at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
