Simon Cowell always speaks his mind on "American Idol." (Fox)
We all knew it would happen eventually during the early rounds of "American Idol:" Simon Cowell misses his former fellow judge Paula Abdul. In an exclusive interview with Extra, Cowell finally revealed the truth: "I miss her, of course I do." He also went on to say that "American Idol" had a "different" sort of chemistry now that Paula Abdul has been replaced with a revolving door of "guest judges."
So far this season Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Neil Patrick Harris, Victoria Beckham, Shania Twain, and Joe Jonas have all sat down to offer their advice to "American Idol" hopefuls alongside Simon, Randy Jackson, and Kara DioGuardi. Producers for the popular Fox show have said that eventually they will find a permanent replacement for Paula, but the odds are low that it will happen anytime during this current season.
Paula Abdul officially decided not to return to "American Idol" earlier this summer, a move believed largely to revolve around salary demands. I'm really hoping this is all a big hoax to create talk and she'll be back. If it is, then Simon is a great actor because his taped interviews about Paula have shown seriously raw emotion I've never seen from him before. He's so in love with her that he really would be devastated if she's not coming back for real...I guess all we can do it wait.
I hope so too, Beth. The show is so much the three judges as it is the contestants.
