'American Idol' season 12 will make it's anticipated return on Wednesday, Jan. 16. The competition is expected to be intense, but it looks like there will be a great deal of intensity on the judging panel as well.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock (which isn’t always a bad thing), you are probably already aware of the feud between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj.
In case you haven’t heard, you probably need brought up to speed on the details for this season. In addition to Carey and Minaj, country cutie Keith Urban has also been added to the panel, joining ‘American Idol’ veteran, Randy Jackson. The new trio will be replacing Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith’s leading man Steven Tyler who served on the panel for two seasons.
Reportedly Carey is receiving $18 million for the season, while Minaj is in the $12 million ballpark, and Urban is earning the least at $8 million.
Though talent shows have risen in popularity, ‘American Idol’ still remains the show to have paved the way for the current trend. The ‘X Factor’ and ‘The Voice’ have also scored favorable ratings as well, but Idol is still expected to lure viewers in. The animosity between Carey and Minaj can only help the show’s ratings, as viewers tend to enjoy tuning in to dramatic programs. Minaj was reported to have threatened to shoot Carey, so it is reasonable to believe that the two divas will keep viewers entertained all season long no matter what.
'American Idol’ re-enters our lives tonight on Fox with a two-hour premiere. Tomorrow there will be another one hour episode. It’s time for auditions, folks!....the good, the bad, and everything in between.
Are you planning to watch season 12? What do you anticipate this time?
