'American Idol': Nicki Manaj on Mariah Carey 'she's an icon'

The feud between "American Idol" judges and diva-duo Nicki Minaj, 29, and Mariah Carey, 42, seems to be enjoying a much needed reprieve, according to a report from Access Hollywood on Monday.

Access Hollywood's Shaun Robinson reportedly spoke with Manaj on Sunday to find out how things were going between she and Mariah Carey after their infamous spat in September in which Minaj made headlines after she reportedly swore at Carey and told the competing diva to lose the attitude.

Minaj was attending the American Music Awards on Sunday when she took a moment to make nice and imply that there wasn't nothing more to see in the much publicized dispute.

"You know what, she’s [Mariah Carey] an icon. I respect her. I’ve always respected her," Minaj explained.

"But you know, we're human and things happen," Minaj continued.

Minaj won two two awards on Sunday night for Rap/hip-hop artist and Rap/hip-hop album.

Although Minaj and Carey seem to be square for now, Ryan Seacrest, 37, doesn't want viewers to get the impression that next season's "American Idol" is anything but crazy and shocking.

Seacrest told Shaun, "This will be the most unpredictable panel on our live shows we’ve ever had."

"American Idol" season 12 is scheduled to premiere on on Wednesday, January 16, and Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 8/7c on Fox.
