'American Idol': Lackluster performances

On Wednesday night’s installment of “American Idol”, the performers were asked to pick any top ten songs since 2011, and to say that the performances of the top 10 idols lacked in passion and intensity would be an understatement. They are the top 10 and viewers expect at this juncture in the competition to be blown out of their seats and find them torn between whom to vote for and who to just ignore.

Of all the performances perhaps Caleb’s was the most poignant, he performed “On The Edge Of Glory” by Lady Gaga and appears to have captures the essence of the song to the point where for an instant the original was forgotten and his rendition of the song became the one and only, which is what is expected from any singer performing a song that already is held to a high standard from it’s original performer.

As far as Jessica is concerned, she performed a song that although catchy in tune, once the lyrics are heard it can make anyone sick to their stomach when recent tragedies come to mind, her rendition of “Pumped Up Kicks” was somewhat all right.

“American Idol” runs on Wednesday at 8 p.m. EDT and Thursday at 9 p.m. EDT on Fox.
