While Adam Lambert may be in more headlines these days than "American Idol" winner Kris Allen, the "Live Like We're Dying" singer has just proved that his Twitter followers can be a powerful force, as well. In celebration of his new single "The Truth" (featuring Train singer Pat Monahan) being available on iTunes, Allen's fans managed to make #TheTruth a trending topic on the popular social-networking site. When you consider that Kris has less than 184,000 followers (as of this writing), that is a particularly impressive feat. (Justin Bieber, who is trending just about every second of the day, has over 2.3 million.)
While some people were hoping that Allen's next single would be one he had a hand in writing, "The Truth" is a powerful ballad that should do exceptionally well in an Adult Contemporary Market that has already embraced the singer. Monahan's presence in the new version may be disputed by some, but the man is a legend in terms of getting his songs out on the airwaves for a long period of time.

Kris' fans started the trend but #TheTruth is actually trending at #2 because people are using it as a regular trending meme.
