'American Idol' hopeful Sarah Restuccio shocks Nicki Minaj with 'Super Bass'

Sarah Restuccio took a big chance during her audition on "American Idol," shocking Nicki Minaj and much of the judging panel Wednesday.

After professing a love for country music and performing "Mama's Song" by Carrie Underwood, Restuccio decided to perform a rap song and it turned out to be one of Nicki Minaj's biggest hits, "Super Bass."

Restuccio completely surprised Minaj by performing the song and adding a few original rhymes here and there. Enjoying the completely unexpected moment, Nicki Minaj hung on to every word.

"It was two different moments and two perfected moments. Like, nobody does that," Minaj smiled noting the fact that she's never heard anyone sing country, claim to live on a blueberry farm and then rap something like "Super Bass."

Keith Urban was equally impressed.

"When you sang the first song I didn't quite feel it from you. When you sang Nicki's song I was like, totally different girl," Urban said before questioning who Restuccio would be as an artist.

Standing up for her, Nicki Minaj said she shouldn't have to choose between one genre or the other.

"She doesn't have to choose one. Everyone told me my whole life, I had to choose. Everyone has always said to me choose, choose, choose," said Minaj. "I really believe in this girl. I really do."

With four votes on her side, Sarah Restuccio was given a ticket to enter the next round of the competition.

"American Idol" continues Thursday night on FOX.
