'American Idol' has Majesty Rose 'Happy' as Malaya Watson faces 'Hard Times'

"American Idol" rush week started on Feb. 18 with the top girls singing their collective hearts out in hopes of getting a spot on next week's show. The first "AI" singer on stage was Majesty Rose, an already stated frontrunner.

The 21-year-old preschool teacher born Rochelle York performed her rendition of Pharrell Williams' "Happy" while playing the guitar for the first half of the tune. Then, she put the instrument aside and led the crowd in a clapping session as she belted out the rest of the song.

Talk about entertainment.

Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. were ready with their comments, all agreeing that they loved the way Majesty Rose was able to get the crowd pumped.

In addition, JLo was happy about what she just saw and heard, saying, "That's how you're supposed to come out here." Meanwhile, Harry was happy that Majesty Rose set the bar so high at the beginning of the "American Idol" live shows while Keith deemed her song choice right on and said he considered this performance to be "easy" and "breezy" for this particular contestant.

That said, at the end of the "American Idol" evening with the girls performing, Malaya Watson was last up with her cover of "Hard Times" by Ray Charles.

Overcoming nerves that the Michigan teenager experienced at the beginning of her experience on the live"AI" stage, Watson arguably finished up at the top of the heap of the girls still in the Fox reality show competition.

Jennifer comments that a song from Malaya is always epic. Harry told Malaya, "Welcome to the top ten while Keith adds, "You make glasses and braces look so cool."

And so, as "American Idol" saw Majesty Rose sing "Happy" as Malaya Watson faced her challenge with "Hard Times," rush week was off and running in a very competitive direction.
