Harry Connick Jr. has been named the third and final judge for American Idol, Season 13.The Grammy award winning singer and actor will join fellow judges Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban. The Hollywood Reporter was first to break the story.
Connick is a huge fan of American Idol. He has served as a guest mentor mentor twice on the Fox show. His appearances have been well-received.
In 2013, the singer returned his focus to original music with two albums. "Smokey Mary" was a limited release celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Krewe of Orpheus that he co-founded and contains nine new Connick songs. while eleven more are included on "Every Man Should Know" is a collection of eleven new songs that touches on feelings about life and love.
According Billboard, Idol producer Simon Fuller hosted a small party on Thursday evening in the champagne room of Los Angeles hotspot Bouchon with series mainstay Randy Jackson (who will move from judge to mentor in the upcoming season), Urban, Lopez and Connick on hand to toast the forthcoming announcement.
