American Idol's "Road to Hollywood" continued Wednesday night on Fox, and a contestant named Jessica Furney snagged her golden ticket to Los Angeles by singing 'Footprints in the Sand,' a tune co-written by Simon Cowell.
Simon Cowell co-wrote 'Footprints in the Sand' with David Krueger, Per Magnussen and Richard Page for singer Leona Lewis.
Jessica Furney prefaced her performance by telling Cowell "I'm not doing it just to suck up. I promise."
Suck up or no, the 20-year-old caregiver from Wamego, Texas delivered a sweet and subtle performance of 'Footprints in the Sand' that garnered her four "yes" votes from the American Idol judging panel.
Simon Cowell gained some praise of his own from Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham who begged Cowell to write more songs. Simon Cowell, admittedly, blushed.
Jessica Furney and 180 other contestants picked from more than 100,000 hopefuls now head on to the infamous "Hollywood Week" where they will attempt to claw their way into the Top 30 through a terrifying Chorus-Line-style series of auditions.
