'American Idol' finalists say the show is not racist (Video)

It was reported by TMZ on Jan 27, 2013, that the four finalists of 'American Idol' show from different seasons insisted that the singing competition is not racist. Of the four, two of them are black.

It was the TMZ website, which reported that nine of the ex-contestants who are black were planning to sue the producers, of "American Idol" because of racism.

They claim that they were publicly disqualified not due to their dubious criminal backgrounds, but because they're African-American.

Melinda Doolittle, a Season 6 finalist disagreed and told TMZ that such allegations were shocking.

According to Doolittle, regardless of race, the 'Idol' team strives to champion everyone. But each contestant is told not to withhold any information which compromises the show or artist.

Vonzell Solomon, a season 4 finalist added that he never experienced any of racial discrimination and the contracts clearly states that on the background checks they could be disqualified if they lied about their past.

Taylor Hicks, season 5 winner and Casey Abrams, season 10 finalist also agreed that 'American Idol' is not racist.
