Judge Jennifer Lopez said she was falling in love with the "legendary" 16-year-old country singer. Another good sign: Scott attends the same N.C. high school that "American Idol" Season 2 runner-up Clay Aiken did way back in the early Pleistocene.
And you can now add a New England chapter to Scotty's growing fan base, since his father and aunt grew up in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Eliot, Maine.
Scott's aunt, Tina McCreery Creech, told the Portsmouth Herald that she and Scotty's father, Michael, attended Dondero School in Portsmouth before moving to Eliot and graduating from Marshwood High School in 1977.
Tina, who now lives in Southern Pines, N.C., has to watch "Idol" each week to learn Scotty's fate — just like everyone else.
"It's really secretive, like the CIA or something," she told the Herald. "I found out he tried out for 'American Idol' after he'd made the first cut ...; on Nov. 18, when the producer showed a clip on 'The View.' Lo and behold, it was Scott! I was stunned."
