Fans of American Idol castoff Alex Lambert are rallying around the eliminated contestant with an online petition to reinstate the singer as the thirteenth finalist in the usual American Idol Top 12.
Alex Lambert was one of four contestants in the final group to be eliminated from American Idol Season 9 before the finals, along with Lilly Scott, Katelyn Epperly and Todrick Hall. Lambert, though, has something that the other contestants weren't able to develop during their three weeks in front of live cameras-a dedicated fan base. Alex Lambert's tearful goodbye after the announcement of his elimination has kicked that fan base into high gear.

The Alex Lambert petition has garnered nearly 8,000 signatures in the 48 hours since the 19-year-old North Richland Hills, Texas native was booted from American Idol's Season 9 competition. The term "Alex Lambert petition" also shot to the top of Google Trends on Saturday evening.
The creator of the petition, listed as Jessica Bongiorno, has set a goal of 10,000 signatures before forwarding the petition to American Idol producers and 19 Entertainment.
Adding a thirteenth finalist has happened on American Idol before. Judges included contestant added Anoop Desai as a thirteenth finalist during last season. In previous seasons, American Idol has always invited at least one contestant who didn't make the original cut back into the competition as a "wild card contestant".

Alex Lambert should ABSOLUTELY be back on the show. He was the only one worth watching.
I was so totally shocked that Alex was voted off. I can see him as the American Idol winner!

Alex needs to be back on the show! His voice is so different from the rest and he has so much potential. I was really looking forward to seeing him continue on in the competition and without him, I will no longer be watching this season.
Continued from Busy Percentages BELOW. You would think, Idol would have a way to dedicate enough lines to cut down on busy percentages... Or at the very least, All contestants would have an equal amount of busy percentages. Alex Lambert had triple the Busy Percentage of the other contestants this week (excluding Michael- who Alex still almost doubled)...According to DialIdol. This factor skews actual voting totals. For instance, suppose the voting line capacity was 1500 votes per time zone..... And Contestant 1 had 1000 intended votes in each time zone, for a total of 3000 votes. Now Contestant 2 had 5000 intended votes on the East Coast and no votes in the other 2 time zones, but because the capacity only 1500 are counted. So in the example above Contestant 1 had 3000 intended votes and 3000 counted. Contestant 2 has 5000 intended votes and only 1500 counted. So contestant 2 goes home?? This also hurts the contestant who gets few-per-night voters who all call right when the show ends
Okay, the judges constantly remind the viewers that this is “a singing competition.” So why do so many singers who have Pitch problems, or can’t sing on key stay? Why do REAL singers like Alex get booted off? I think the judges really must take some credit for the devestation to Alex, and American Idol. They constantly support their favorites, regardless of ability to SING. Yes, Alex was nervous. But the kid can sing better than most of the people on this season. I want to see him Wed on Ellen, and hope someone gets him into a studio soon!
I agree...my wife and In have removed Idol from our DVR recording. I have never blogged before ever and this kids talent motivated me to support him...I will not watch this show again if they do not bring him back....

Alex has the BEST, most unique and beautiful voice to come to the Idol stage in a long time. His timidness and tentative approach to the camera when performing is endearing. It made no sense for the judges to dwell on it when pure talent spoke for itself. Please help #BringBackAlex on the show! Season 9 needs him. He's a top seller among the S9 idols on iTunes. Help SAVE Alex!
He's the only one I cared to watch on the show. I was looking forward to hearing more from him all the way to the finals. If they don't bring him back, the season has plainly and simply ended already.

He looks a bit like a young John Lennon, I don't think John was real annimated either - at least not like Paul was (bobble head - but fun to watch) but John was more serious and more reserved. So someone out in music land should consider Alex Lambert for a music deal and let him move on - with or without American Idol - this young gentleman is wonderful!
Alex has an excellent voice and should reallllyyyy be back on the show.... And i suggest producers should creat a seprerate show called Ameican Teen Idol so all the teenagers can vote for the contastants they think are cute... and let contestants like Alex with great voices have a chance.....
I can't watch the show now, it was just a ridiculous vote off, him and Lily. I bought one of Alex's songs off iTunes, and I've been watching American Idol for the last three seasons and I never bought a song off of iTunes of any Idol contestant until Alex.

If AI decides to arrogantly pivot away from the Alex question and voting accountability, I predict curtains for the once ratings king because its fans, simply put, do not like to be played. We've grown weary of the lie, "Well, that's how America voted..." when we can see and hear evidence (Alex Lambert, case in point) that clearly contradicts it.
this is so depressing, the only reason i was watching this season. the show is so boring without alex. All are so vanilla, i'll take my female 40 year old, rich demographic out of contention this season, so upset.

Very unique voice... absolutely soothing and is one of my favs.. I understand the judges wanting him to be more comfortable on stage.. presentation is important.. he improved every week as he preformed as stated by the judges and given that opportunity he would have became more at ease with every performance. I would buy his CD in a heartbeat.. Rethink this AI he's a winner!!

Well i think he shouldnt get kicked of it was rediculous he was one of the best guys there...ALEX LAMBERT MUST COME BACK he is an amazing singer its ABSOLOUTLEY REDICULOUS he was on of the best on there ive seen in a while.I dont really care for the show now because the producers messes around with the votes they decide who goes home and its rediculous i really dont care for the show any more im just glad the x-factor is coming next year good day to the people who wants alex lambert back
Too bad I can't vote, I'm from the Philippines and I was very, very disappointed when he was eliminated.. He is really, really well-loved here. He's the cutest 19-year-old I've seen and that voice.. WOW! Combining all the singing talent of all the AI male contestants and more, that's Alex Lambert!! He's so humble and simple. I know he lacks confidence, but given more time, he will be okay. I've never been this affected about any show until now because of him. I want to sign the petition, but I don't know how and I'm not sure if my vote will be counted since I'm not from there. He looks like John Lennon/Paul McCartney combined and it's kinda creepy or is it just a coincidence that these two are the best singers the world has and Alex Lambert has their looks and singing talent. You're a great singer Alex, believe us. If the petition does not work, try a bigger venue, like a recording studio perhaps? You don't need that crap show to show your talent. how in the hell did he get let go from this show when he was #3 on dial idol? for real people come on... and then to tell him to sing something else because he would get more votes if he does? wow. his facebook says he is getting sets together to start some shows. That I can't wait for. I REALLY hope someone grabs him up and gets him in the studio for an album. This kid is Amazing. seriously I almost cry ever time I hear him sing, having the knowledge that he isn't on the show anymore. :( and whoever bought his songs... I can't find them on ITUNES... I'm not your average teeny bopper! I'm a 31 year old mother of three and I am a fan of American Idol (I must admit that I watch it mostly for Ryan these days..haha). Still, I have never been moved by a performer the way I was when Alex Lambert was eliminated.
I have to tell ya, I just love that kid. I see my anxiety ridden 7 year old son in Alex. I see the talent, the kindness, and the desire to do great things overshadowed by a fear. However, this guy has guts. To be so scared, yet to go in front of millions of viewers each weak is incredible and he was only getting better.
When Ryan said he was going home, I cried! I just thought America has to be completely deaf to eliminate this obvious raw talent. Yes, he needs to work on "performing", but he is the real deal. I can think of plenty of artists that "perform" well and put on the show, but never make the connection that Alex made with America. He is raw and honest.
