'American Idol' exclusive: would John Park sing Britney Spears?

(On Friday I had the opportunity to participate in a conference call with the latest castoffs from "American Idol." This interview is just one part of a series.)

John Park was put in a difficult position before the live shows even began -- as a favorite. With his deep, soulful voice and humble personality, the Chicago native looked like he could be cut from the same cloth as past "Idol" winner Kris Allen. However, it turned out to not be the case as nerves, song choice, and pressure to be the best all likely played a role in his demise.

Now, John is talking about his plans moving forward. He spoke on Friday about his eclectic mix of influences (he may have performed a Britney Spears song next week had he stayed in the competition), and he also revealed his dream collaborator on a future album: Stevie Wonder. Why? His answer to me was simple: "I love Stevie Wonder -- it would be such an honor just to work with him, even for a minute."

Even though John didn't supply me with paragraphs about his time on "Idol," he came across as a likable guy with a strong head on his shoulders. He plans to now return to Chicago, finish his time in school (and with his acapella group Purple Haze) before figuring out his plans to further himself in music.

Were you sad to see John Park leave "American Idol?" Let me know your thoughts with a comment below and check back soon for more exclusive coverage.
