"American idol': ET says Kara DioGuardi is out, Jennifer Lopez is in

Last night Entertainment Tonight reported that Kara DioGuardi is out and Jennifer Lopez is in on American Idol. An inside source said this about Jennifer Lopez, “She’s signed the deal. She’s coming on American Idol.” The source also claimed that the major shake-up is because American Idol’s ratings continue to drop.

Entertainment Tonight also reported that Jennifer Lopez has major star power and is an excellent replacement for Kara DioGuardi and Ellen Degeneres. The 41-year-old superstar has sold 50 million albums and is the richest Latin American star in Hollywood. Lopez’s films have raked in $757 million and the star has commanded as much as $50 per movie. Three years ago, Jennifer Lopez mentored the final eight of season six, and she correctly predicted that Jordin Sparks would win. Lopez also has an amazing ability to reinvent herself and stay fresh, attractive qualities to American Idol executives.

In another shocking announcement, the inside source on Entertainment Tonight said that Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler is the leading contender to replace Simon Cowell. “I hear he is set,” she told viewers. She also said that the judges’ panel would drop down to its original 3-person format. FOX has not confirmed any of the speculations nor has it announced a date when any type of official confirmation would be made. American Idol begins season ten in January of 2011.
