This week on "American Idol," there would be no saves or dramatic finishes -- rather, two contestants will be going home.
Ryan Seacrest (in a slightly less crazy mood than Tuesday) didn't waste any time with the results -- he brought out Andrew Garcia, Casey James, and Aaron Kelly, and promptly told them that Andrew was going home and that the other two were safe.
One last note to Andrew: are you crazy? The guy should have sung "Straight Up" for his farewell -- after all, that was the only reason that he made it so far to begin with! Instead, he did the same sort of sleepy lounge performance that got him kicked off the show in the first place.
After Andrew's sort-of-tearful goodbye, we then got to see a lovely segment about Kara DioGuardi and Elliott Yamin in Africa, working to help make some dreams come true.
Speaking of dreams coming true, Justin Gaston (of "If I Can Dream") got the opportunity to perform in front of 20 million Americans, and sounded extremely nervous doing it (though I know he's a great singer -- I've seen his show). Brooke White from season 7 joined him, and she sounded about ten times more confident.
Is anyone feeling confident among the remaining eight? Certainly not Lee Dewyze (who's always nervous). Did someone actually boo Tim Urban when Ryan called his name?
Crystal Bowersox and Siobhan Magnus were the first two declared safe, and then Lee got to breathe a giant sigh of relief. So it was down to Tim, Katie Stevens, or Michael Lynche (who shouldn't have to suffer through this again).
As Ryan said, we then took a break for Adam Lambert. I didn't know what to think about him singing "Whataya Want From Me" going in, simply because I've heard it on so many other shows. However, he mixed it up and delivered something that was absoltely fantastic (including some crazy green lasers).
After the crowd calmed down, Tim Urban was given the save while Michael Lynche stood there in fear. Could he be taken down by America again? No! Katie Stevens was sent home instead, and Big Mike gave her a few words of encouragement as she teared up.

Katie Stevens should have been in the top three, along with Crystal Bowersox and Mike Lynche.
This is CRAZY!ANDREW SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE HOME! TIM SHOULD HAVE!! HIS VOICE IS HORRIBLE!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! THE JUDGES SHOULD HAVE NEVER SAVED BIG MIKE!! NEVER HE WASN'T WORTH THIS AT ALL!!!!! SOO MADD RIGHT NOW!
Katie should not have been going home! I've waiting for Andrew and Tim to go
I personally didn't think Andrew has it in him- he didn't have the best voice.... Katie should have not been voted off. Last week Andrew should have been voted off and Mike shuld not have been saved. This is a game... play it rough. These girls are voting on the guys that they think are "cute" to them Tim is a dreamy boy.. They need to vote fair and vote for the ones that they feel that are the BEST.
Are you deaf? Andrew's curtain call was arguably his best yet. He showed a lot more vocal range than he did with any previous turn out and was more ballsy to hit some notes higher than any of his previous performances...YES, including "Straight Up". If he had been singing like that he wouldn't have been as much trouble as he'd been.
Get your head out of your ass, Matt and actually listen to the song and make your own judgement call instead of copying what everyone else says.
The right two people were sent home. Neither Andrew nor Katie will ever have careers in music. They're suited for the occasional karaoke bar outing and maybe some afternoon gigs in nursing homes. Pros they are not and never will be. If Idol were the singing contest it's supposed to be and not the popularity contest it really is, neither of these two would have made it to top 24.
