American Idol sent four more contestants packing Thursday night and revealed the official Season 9 Top 12, three out of four of whom received positive feedback from the Idol judges.

The first contestant to be cut on American Idol's elimination night was Katelyn Epperly. Epperly performed Carole King's 'I Feel the Earth Move' and accompanied herself on keyboard on Tuesday night. Simon Cowell likened Katelyn Epperly's Tuesday night performance to "request night" at a local restaurant and Kara DioGuardi said that Epperly looked like she was "just going through the motions".

Todrick Hall was the next to get the boot from the American Idol Top 12. Hall sang a gospel version of Queen's 'Somebody to Love' on Wednesday night and received positive reviews from the judges' panel. Simon Cowell told him: "It was a good song choice and it may have saved you, that song".

Alex Lambert was next to be eliminated after scoring across-the-board positive feedback for his Wednesday night performance of Ray LaMontagne's 'Trouble'. Lambert was pitted against early favorite Andrew Garcia, who saved himself with an acoustic version of Christina Aguilera's 'Genie in a Bottle'.

The final elimination came down to Katie Stevens and Lilly Scott. Lilly Scott was eliminated in one of American Idol's biggest shockers of the season so far. Scott performed Patsy Cline's 'I Fall to Pieces' on Tuesday night, and Simon Cowell characterized her performance as "risky".

The remaining 12 American Idol contestants now move on to the finals, where only one competitor per week is eliminated.

Alex Lambert was better than Lilly Scott. I'm most upset about him. She was kind of a poser and she looked super p i ssed when she got elliminated.

  • Alex Lambert was the best 2 years ago

I am so angry. Alex should have made it and so should Lily. They both are so good and so unique. They are better than most the people on that damn show. Without them its not worth watching. So I am boycotting American Idol.

Wheres the wild card Lily was way better than three of the girls that stayed.Idol is on its last season and I am no longer watching it.

Ummm excuse me that first girl you was safe should of gone the red head girl should of gone and the one you sang smiling should have gone. Lily was one of the top two female vocalist. The guys I think got it right except Todderick should of stayed and Andrew with Genie in a Bottle should of went packing. This show is going down hill fast. Only Two winners have ever really made it big Kelly and Carrie. There won't be an Idol next year especially with Howard Stern, can't wait on Dancing with the Stars to return. Good Bye Idol.

paige and kathie should go. paige's rendition of SMILE made me want to cry because it was so bad and it is getting really boring seeing kathie week after week!

I am a 30 year old woman and Alex was the only male singer this year that I would pay to see or buy their albums. I support the artists that I am passionate about! I voted for an hour and a half straight for Alex. So I know that some of his fans supported him. Please sign the petition. Also, go to Itunes and buy the audio of his three singles. Show AI and the record companies that he can be successful! Go Team Alex!
