American Idol returned live Thursday night to send four more contestants packing in their quest to whittle the race down to the Top 12 finalists.

The first contestant to be eliminated  was John Park, who got a unanimous thumbs down from the American Idol judges for his performance of John Mayer's 'Gravity' on Tuesday night. Park's performance prompted Simon Cowell to speculate that he'd be back performing with his a capella group at Northwestern University in no time, and he was right.

The second contestant to be eliminated was Jermaine Sellers, who performed what Randy Jackson referred to as a "watered down version" of Marvin Gaye's 'What's Going On'. When Simon Cowell predicted that Sellers was in trouble on Tuesday night, the Chicago area gospel singer responded that he wasn't worried about elimination because "God's my homeboy".

Michelle Delamor was the third American Idol hopeful to get the axe. Delamor received positive feedback from the judges panel for her R & B version of Creed's 'Arms Wide Open,' but apparently failed to connect with the viewing audience.

16-year-old Haeley Vaughn was the final contestant to get the boot from American Idol Thursday night. Vaughn, who sang Miley Cyrus' 'The Climb,' got scathing reviews from the American Idol judges two weeks in a row.

American Idol's 16 remaining contestants will perform live next Tuesday and Wednesday nights in an effort to become one of Season 9's 12 finalists.

Ahaha what a loser! I guess your God doesn't think that you're the new christ after all.

Eliminations of Haeley and Jermaine were expected but Michelle was surprising, and while John didn't have the best performance, his fan base was huge which goes to show that Idols worries that fans base would sway votes was clearly unwarranted. I think John's farewell performance though was probably his best because he had nothing to lose at that point and nailed it.
