'American Idol': Disappointing performances

Tonight’s performances on “American Idol” were nothing as to what was expected, not just because of the stage of the competition, but because the premise this week was to tackle the 80’s. True, arrangements need to be made to fit the singer and also to show off his or her originality, however, last night classics were just ripped apart and they seem to leave a sour taste.

Caleb sang Faithfully and his performance was the only one that did the melody justice, while injecting some of his own creativity and novelty. Tomorrow night, the votes will be tallied and one of these 8 performers will go home, and there is no more saves for the judges last week they used it to save Sam.

Based on the performances, it would not be surprising if Sam, Alex, and Malaya find themselves in the bottom, and as far as who might be going home at the end, it should be Sam, he just does not have stage presence and that connection that a performer needs to exude for the audience.

“American Idol” runs on Wednesday at 8 p.m. EDT and Thursday at 9 p.m. EDT on Fox.
